Yup. Bitch about airport security in line, and you might be pulled aside for "additional screening."

And if you're interested in a little light reading, how about a copy of the Al Qaeda training manual, courtesy of PBS' Frontline. The reason why it's included is it says that agents should remain calm and don't raise a ruckus, therefor an AQ agent is more likely to easily get through screening.

Date: 2011-04-17 10:20 pm (UTC)We are long past the point where we can expect someone who's going to commit an act of terrorism (or a crime) for that matter - to be standing in line, sweating and looking nervously about like a cartoon criminal. The best these security measures can hope to do is catch the odd stupid drug mule or minor customs violation.
Offhand, I have at least 2 types of medications in my bedside drawer at home which would flatten me right out in almost any situation - And thats taking into account I have a complete pathological problem with authority figures.
Now, Please don't get me wrong, Im not saying that its all a useless crock of shit, What I am saying is that there has to be a better way of screening in this way than letting minimum wage employees with nothing more than a checklist loose on a queue of passengers.
I think it was here (On this LJ) that a link to the way Israeli airport screening worked..which is far far in advance of the current US practices. In terms of training, resources and outlook.
As an aside, I wonder how long its going to be before a certain type exhibitionist catch on to the fact that they can get felt up in public simply by uttering a few choice words. :)
