I did it by unsubscribing from Lucas emails! That's two Disney email series that I've received and unsubscribed from in as many weeks. I'M ON A ROLL! :-)

I grew increasingly disappointed by the movies and maintain that Episodes 4-6 were the best. I liked the first two seasons of Mandalorian, grew increasingly disappointed with whatever the Boba Fett series is, aside from kind of a hot mess IMHO. Personally, I probably wouldn't bother with the new Obi Wan series except Russet is in the "He's a pretty boy!" fan club, so we'll probably be watching that. She asked me about the status of our subscription this morning and she's also interested in Moon Kannnnnigit.

May the Fourth be another day on the calendar preceding the Fifth and following the Third.

He passed away after a short illness, at his age I would guess pneumonia. He made it to 85.

Famous for embodying Darth Vader, he was significant for many things in his life, including working with public safety programs in the UK. He also set three weight-lifting records.

He did not voice Darth because of his thick accent. He was also quite POd at Lucas when his helmet was taken off in Episode 6: The Return of the Jedi, and he was replaced with Mister Potato Head.

He auditioned for both Darth Vader and Chewbacca and was given the choice. He said 'Give me the baddie. People remember the baddie.' Well, in this case, both roles will not be forgotten.

Wikipedia lists some of his other acting roles as the Black Night in Jabberwocky, a minotaur in Doctor Who (I believe Tom Baker era), and Hotblack Desiato's bodyguard in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I assume the original TV series.

Just refresh the page for a new card so you can have plenty for your friends!

The site is for the Darth and Droids web comic, where they screen cap the movies and ruthlessly turn them into a desktop role-playing game session.

It is ridiculously funny.

Right now they're playing with the Muppet Show which Mark Hammill appeared on, which turned into a Star Wars special of some sort, which I never saw.

Maybe it's just creeping dementia thundering at the gates that caused me not to notice, surely others aren't as burned out on Star Wars as I?

Apparently calendars are hard for me.

I wonder if it might be a demonstration sport at the Olympics there in five years!

From the article: "Combatants fight inside a circle marked in tape on the floor. Strikes to the head or body are worth five points; to the arms or legs, three points; on hands, one point. The winner is the first to reach 15 points or, if they don’t get there quickly, the fighter with the higher score after three minutes is the victor. If both fighters reach 10 points, the bout enters a “sudden death” stage, in which the first to land a head or body blow wins."

Very sad! She was returning to LA from London and about an hour out suffered cardiac arrest. CPR was performed, she was rushed to the hospital was was reported to be in stable condition. Apparently that report was optimistic and she passed away this morning.

It was reported that her footage for Star Wars Episode 8 was complete, I anticipate some hurried rewrites and reshoots and a big explosion at a rebel base.

I was going to say that it's been a rough year for celebrities with the passing of David Bowie et al, but the reality that every year is a rough year for celebrities. We lose a lot of them every year, and it is sad. I just saw Carrie on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, she was talking about her new book which excerpted her diaries that she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movies. She was 19.

I'm getting more interested.

One thing that's nice about having a mid-December birthday is that LOTS of awesome movies come out right on or around my birthday. It makes for some great presents.

May the fourth be with you.

(though personally, overall, I think Star Trek is the better franchise.)

In other Star Wars news, Josh Trank has quit the production of another SW movie. I knew they were making multiple sequels, I didn't know they were making multiple spin-offs.

I hope Disney doesn't muck up the new series, I guess we'll find out. I'm a little paranoid about them getting Ford, Hamill, and Fisher back. That series started almost forty years ago, I remember seeing it as a teen in Phoenix. I know Harrison Ford is looking very craggy, saw him on Craig Ferguson a couple of weeks ago, and Carrie put on a lot of weight. Going to be interesting seeing Han and Leia as retired people. I have no idea what Hamill looks like these days, he mainly went to voice acting for a long time.

We watched the Abrams' Star Trek movie last night as a refresher as the new one opens really soon, and to be honest, I still find it kinda *meh*, and I'm not sure why. The characters are kinda cool, especially Simon Pegg, as limited as his appearance was. The Kirk/Spock characters really didn't grab me, I think Kirk just struck me as an arrogant jerk, but at least I could see his evolving arc a little more clearly.

I'll definitely see the new movie, and the new Star Wars movie whenever it releases, but what I really want is to buy the original Star Trek collections, which will cost about $100 for all three seasons. *sigh* Maybe one of these days I'll get a job.

Tonight or tomorrow: Iron Man 3! W00ties!

A very cool series by a skilled photographer. Unfortunately he's more of a photographer than a web site designer, and his flash navigation kinda sucks. Click on Series off the top row, then look for a small arrow in the middle of the right side of the image.

Very cool stuff. Very strange stuff. I had hoped that the season 2 DVD collection would have them, but they didn't.
