Ours was surprisingly no-drama, which was quite nice for a change. No snow, which was a little sad. We might get some Monday night/Tuesday, but that far ahead of the forecast I ain't holding my breath.
We had Chinese pulled-pork for dinner: cook it in the oven for three hours and it's pretty much fool-proof. Sweet potatoes and green beans were the sides. Far too many dishes to clean up to produce three dishes for consumption!

Date: 2020-12-26 09:44 pm (UTC)Last year Christmas Eve we took my dad to the ER after a family dinner because he couldn't stop coughing. He'd seen a lung doc and his GP, neither did squat, which included failing to order a chest x-ray. 85 y/o man with a history of lung cancer, non-smoker.
Pneumonia with very peculiar blood chemo, astonishingly low WBC. Turned out to be his second cancer, leukemia. Spent Christmas in the hospital and was in for about a week. We spent most of Christmas Day there visiting, he felt fine, just couldn't stop coughing, but clearly his blood work showed he was not fine. When my wife and I left, there were VERY few places open, I remembered a Chinese restaurant about 3 miles away. Open, and empty. And they have the best pot stickers around! The rest of the menu is acceptable.
Anyway, they've become a go-to place. I think my parents are now using them for takeout, now that I've explained Jewish/Chinese food timing. :-)
